Destructive Plate Boundary
Where a continental and an oceanic plate move towards each other. These plate boundaries can cause both volcanoes and earthquakes. An example of one is the between the South American and Nazca Plates.

Constructive Plate Boundary
Where two plates move away from each other. These boundaries can cause volcanoes. An example of one is between the Eurasian and North American Plates. (The Mid Atlantic Ridge)

Conservative Plate Boundary
Where two plates slide sideways past each other. Few volcanic eruptions are caused here but earthquakes are frequent and strong. An example of one is on the western coast of the USA.
