Natural Moral Law.
It is an absolute and deontological argument, prescribing fixed moral rules. NML defines what is good and what is wrong, it derives on rational human reason.

Aquinas & Summa Theologica
He argues that NML resides within the purpose of nature, created by God. It is a humans destiny to achieve one with God and NML helps them to achieve this.

Aristotle.
He argues that everything has a purpose and that humans inherit a sense of right and wrong. Supreme good is found when fulfilling their purpose. E.g. Sex.

Eudemonia.
'the goal of flourishing' or 'happiness'

Primary Precepts (Aquinas).
1) Preserve Life. 2) Ordered Society. 3) Worship God. 4) Education. 5) Reproduction.

Secondary Precepts (Aquinas).
The application of the primary precepts however, the secondary precepts are absolute.

Double Effect.
Exterior and Interior (Intentions are good but action is bad)

Strength One.
Certainty: Being an absolutist system, it is a source of clear values and moral certainty.

Strength Two.
Universalism: Its force on reason allows it to transcend the difference between cultures and focus upon common moral ideas shared by many.

Strength Three.
Purpose: Its emphasis upon the purpose of humanity gives people structure and meaning in their lives.

Weakness One.
No Agreed ML: A relative objection. The world is full of different moralities and not a clear common ethic.

Weakness Two.
No Such Thing As Essential Human Nature: Argues the philosopher Kai Neilson. Science gives no justification for the views that humans have the same natural inclination.

Weakness Three.
Legalistic Morality: The unbending absolutism of ML means that it is not understanding of individual circumstances.
