Why is it important for living things to reproduce?
Reproduction allows organisms to continue the species after death, and to colonise new habitats to extend their range.

Sexual reproduction involves two parents and often elaborate methods of getting male and female gametes together. Asexual reproduction results in genetically identical offspring.

Animals are heterotrophs and obtain food by feeding on other plants and animals. Plants are autotrophs and produce their own food by photosynthesis.
