What was the training of doctors like in the renaissance (1700's)?
They rarely used zodiac charts, there was some practical training in hospitals, dissections were carried out, the books of Galen and other doctors were read, William Hunter set up his own medical school and many physicians ran medical courses.

Not really, but Galen was becoming unpopular, they were still very religious based.

What were hospitals like in the early 1800's?
The wards were cramped and stuffy, no sewage system, high death rates, nursing staff weren't trained and many poor people were cared for in workhouses.

Free treatment and care, proper nurses training, better understanding of causes of disease-new treatments, midwifes act, new technologies and more effort to stop infection.

Why is war good and bad for medicine?
Good- new: inventions, techniques and ways of working. Bad - doctors taken away to war, causes casualties, expensive, stops research.

What was improved in medicine due to war?
Better treatments of bones, medical cards introduced, x-ray technology developed, more awareness of mental illness and surgery improved greatly.
