How does Human Population Growth effect Global biodiversity?
1. Habitat loss (human development destroys habitats) 2. Over-exploitation (demand for resources that cant be replenished quickly) 3. Urbanisation (cities and roads isolate species leading to interbreeding) 4. Pollution (kill species and habitats)

What is Monoculture?
The growing of a single variety of a single crop
2 of 7
How does Monoculture effect global biodiversity?
1. Habitats are lost and land is cleared for large fields. 2. Local and naturally occurring plants and animals are seen as weeds and pests so are destroyed 3. Traditional varieties of crops are lost because they don't make enough money

What is Climate change?
The variation in the earths climate e.g. changes in temp and rainfall patterns. It has been increased by the emission of greenhouse gases which cause global warming. will effect different areas of the world differently.
4 of 7
How does climate change effect global biodiversity?
1.Habitat could be made inhabitable or uninhabitable 2. could lead to species migrating to more suitable area. Both 1 and 2 could lead to increase or decrease in biodiversity. if species cant migrate or if change is too fast it could become extinct

What is Polymorphism?
when a locus of a gene has two or more alleles. measuring proportion of polymorphic genes in an organism gives a measure of genetic diversity.
6 of 7
What is the formula for the proportion of polymorphic gene loci
number of polymorphic gene loci/ total number of loci
