What is the definition of a monomer?
A small soluble molecule that can join to other similar monomers to form a polymer.
1 of 5
What is the definition of a polymer?
A large insoluble molecule made up of many similar repeating monomers.
2 of 5
What is a condensation reaction?
A condensation reaction will release a molecule of water as well as joining the two monomers together.
3 of 5
What is a hydrolysis reaction?
Polymers are broken down, or hydrolysed, when a water molecule is added, breaking the chemical bond between two monomers.
