Mole equations and the atom -- TEST IF YOU DARE!

Adapted from Revise OCR Chemistry Revision guide.

DO YOU BELIEVE YOU KNOW EVERYTHING THERE IS TO KNOW FOR UNIT ONE, MOLES AND ATOMS, OCR CHEMISTRY NEW COURSE?!

You may be sadly mistaken, my friend...

BEHOOOOOOOOLD!! THE MOTHER OF ALL OCR CHEMISTRY** UNIT ONE REVISION QUIZZES!!!

**May be useful for people doing other exam boards, or for general smart-arses ^^

Once it's been marked, you can take notes from it -- there are a few useful bits, methinks :]

Hey! Great quiz, just a few problems....

Firstly, question two, the mass number is the top number, and the combined number of protons and neutrons, whilst the atomic number, or proton number is the number of protons. So surely, to calculate the number of neutrons, you should subtract the atomic number from the Mass number.... The answer in this quiz is wrong...

Also, question 6, the RAM is the average mass of an atom of an element on a scale where an atom of carbon-12 is 12, not carbon 13 as the answer states....

Hope this helps, it's a really great quiz!!!

:)

Shame about the 2 wrong questions (6 + 2 are incorrect -__-), but at least it's written with a sense of humour.

How is this at all a good quiz?! you did 11 questions and got 2 of them wrong!!

IF ANYONE HAS TAKEN PHYSICS AT THE SAME LEVEL!! THEN I HAVE MADE A VERY DETAILED QUIZ ON THE COURSE.. WITH 70 QUESTIONS!! NONE OF WHICH ARE ACTUALLY WRONG!! UNLIKE 2/11 HERE, THAT ARE WRONG -.-

CHECK OUT MY QUIZ :D

not bad but in my book on qs 2 is incorrect here

and i did not know what a bog was :S

and qs i turned it around :(

i put take away atomic number from mass number and it was the opposite

Darlynton Osuji

Report

The answer for question 6 is incorrect... Relative Atomic Mass: The weighted mean mass of an atom compared to 1/12th of the mass of a carbon-12 atom.

PLEASE CORRECT THIS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE AS SOME STUDENTS MAY ACTUALLY GO INTO AN EXAM WITH THE INCORRECT DEFINITION FROM YOUR QUIZ ABOUT RELATIVE ATOMIC MASS!!!

Darlynton Osuji

Report

Question 2 is indeed correct as to work out the number of neutrons in a calcium atom would require you to subtract the relative atomic mass from the atomic number.

To work out the number of neutrons in a calcium atom would be 40.1 - 20 = 20.1 neutrons.

I got 9/11 but should have got 10 because question 6 is completely wrong , sorry. The answer should have been the weighted mean mass of an atom of an element compared with 1/12 of the mean mass of carbon-12.
