How do vectors spread disease?
Mosquitoes are an example of a vector, menaing they carry a disease without getting it themselves. They pick up malarial parasites when they feed on an infected animal and everytime it feeds on another animal it infects it

What is a benign tumour?
A tumour that grows until theres no more room. The cells stay where they are, this type isnt usually dangerous.

What is a malignant tumour?
A tumour that grows and can spread to other parts in the body. These are dangerous and can be fatal

How can you reduce risk of some cancer?
Not smoking reduces risk of lung cancer, eating less processed meat andd more fibre reduces risk of colon cancer

What is passive immunity?
Where you use antibodies made my another organism. This is only temporary

What is active immunity?
Where the immune system makes its own antibodies after being stimulated by a pathogen. It includes naturally immune and artificially immune (immunisation). This is usually permanent

What is the process of immunisation (vaccination)?
Dead or inactive pathogens are injected into the body. These carry antigens, they are harmless but still trigger an immune response and the white blood cells produce antibodies to attack them. These white blood cells remain in the blood as memory cel

What are the benefits associated with immunisation?
Stops you from getting ill, wont be able to spread easily

What are the risks asssociated with immunisation?
There can be short-term side effects (e.g. swelling, feeling a bit under the weather), you cant have some vaccines if you are already ill, some can cause other disorders (e.g. studies show link between MMR andd autism
