What is an isotope
Atoms of an element with the same number of protons but different numbers of neutrons
1 of 15
What is relative isotopic mass
Mass of an atom of an isotope of an element compared to 1/12 of the mass of an atom of carbon 12
2 of 15
How do you calculate relative atomic mass
Multiply each relative isotopic mass by % relative isoptopic abundance and add up the results then divide by 100
3 of 15
What is isotopic abundance
The relative amount of a particular isotope occuring in a sample of an element
4 of 15
What is relative molecular mass
The average mass of a molecule compared to 1/12 of the mass of an atom of carbon 12
5 of 15
What is a mole
The unit of amount of substance one mole is roughly 6.02 x10(23) particles
6 of 15
What is molar ratio
The ratio of the number of moles of each reactant and product in a balanced chemical equation
7 of 15
What us a molecular formula
A way of representing molecules that shows the actual number of atoms of each element in a molecule
8 of 15
What is molar mass
The mass of one mole of something
9 of 15
What is an ionic equation
An equation which only shows the reacting particles of a reaction involving ions
10 of 15
What is the equation for moles (1)
Mass of substance / molar mass
11 of 15
What is the equation for moles (gas v)
Volume in dm3 / 24
12 of 15
What is the ideal gas equation
pV = nRT
13 of 15
What is the equation for moles (conc)
Concentration x volume in cm3 / 1000
14 of 15
What is concentration
A measure of how many moles of a substance are dissolved in a volume of solution
