mitosis

?
name the stage in mitosis that follows propase...
metaphase
1 of 17
name the stage of mitosis where the nuclear envolope reforms
telophase
2 of 17
what is the stage in mitosis where the chromosome line up at the equator?
metaphase
3 of 17
what is the phase in mitosis when chromosomes become visible?
prophase
4 of 17
in mitosis one stage is when the chromatids move towards the poles and spindle microtubules shorten, what is this stage?
anaphase
5 of 17
give three resons why mitosis is important
1. repair 2.growth 3. asexual reproduction
6 of 17
describe the role of mitosis
to make identical cells taht are used for growth and repair . it is also used for asexual reproduction
7 of 17
what type of division is mitosis?
nuclear
8 of 17
what is cytokensis?
it is the final stage where the cytoplasm is shared between the two daughter cells.
9 of 17
what happens during interphase?
the cell is not dividing. however the replication DNA and organelles takes place . it still carries out it normal cellular functions
10 of 17
what are the three stages of interphase?
1.G1- cells organelles replicate and celll starts to grow. prepares and synthesis mRNA 2.S- the DNA replicates and centriols spindles replicate 3.G2- preparing to divide, checks the DNA molecule for errors.
11 of 17
decribe the phase of prophase
chromosomes supercoil, shorten and condense and become visible. there is two identical chromatids connected to a centromere. the centriols start to move to opposite ends of the pole
12 of 17
decribe the phase metaphase
chromosome fully condense, mictuble grabbes a chromatin. microtubbles pull in opposite directions and causes the chromosome to line up in the equator
13 of 17
describe the stage of anaphase
spindles (microtubles) contract and shorten pulling on the centromere. centromeres pull apart and move to opposites part of the pole.- seperation of chromatids- mitochrondria provide the energy
14 of 17
describe the stage of telophase in mitosis
chromatids uncoil and become long and thin. microtubules start to breakdown so spindles dissappear. nuclear envolpe appears to become two nuclei
15 of 17
what does mtiosis produce?
two cells that are genetically identical to each other and the parent
16 of 17
definition of cell cycle
the process of cell growth and division
