Mitosis

?
What is mitosis?
A type of cellular division which produces 2 identical cells to the daughter cell
1 of 6
Why does mitosis occur?
Mitosis can occur as a result of cancer, as well as for repair of older cells and growth
2 of 6
What are the stages of mitosis?
Interphase, prophase, metapahase, anaphase, telophase
3 of 6
What is the interphase?
The interphase is G1-G2. the G1 (first gap phase) a vairety of proteins are produced for DNA replication. The S phase is the synthesis of DNA and chromosomes. The G2 phase is the second gap phase where the cell produces a variety of more proteins
4 of 6
What stage of mitosis is the longest?
The cell remains in the interphase the longest, where the DNA is being replicated and the cell is using up all its nutrients as well as going through metabolic processes
5 of 6
What does the G in G1 stand for?
The gap phase
