It is when a member of a minority group, like an individual, influences a majority to accept the minority's beliefs or behaviour.

Put into groups of 4 participants and 2 confederates. BLUE SLIDES! 'Consistent' variation-confederates answered green throughout,'inconsistent' variation - confederates said green 2/3 times. 'control' condition of 6 participants said blue throughout.

'Consistent'-8% participants said green. 'Inconsistent' showed little influence

A meta-analysis of 97 studies on minority influence, and found minorities who were consistent were particularly influential.

How is commitment effective in minority influence?
The more commitment given, the greater the influence.

What researcher, and when, suggests flexibility is effective in minority influence?
Mugny, 1982 suggests being flexible in your approach, and not rigid can mean you are much more influential. Being rigid can be seen as dogmatic and narrow-minded.
