What is The Efficient Cause?
This is a cause which brings something into being - the way in which it was created. For example, a carpenter bringing a table into being.

What is The Material Cause?
This is a substance from which a thing is made or created. All matter has the potential to change.

What is The Formal Cause?
This is the closest to Plato's idea of Form. It is the characteristic of an object which makes it what it is - its form.The idea that led to somethings creation.

Give an example of The Formal Cause
A sculptor having an idea about the sculpture he wants to make.

What is The Final Cause?
It describes what something is for, it's purpose. E.g. a plate is made to eat from.

What does Telos mean?
It's another word for purpose. The place where an object or perosn or supposed to end up or what theyre supposed to do.

These are Aristotle's categories of types of matter

What does Motus mean?
Aristotle's idea that the world was subject to change?

What does empirical mean?
reaching conclusions through observation and experiment rather than theory.
