Light Microscope Advantages
1) Living plants and animals can be seen directly, allowing you to compare prepared slides with living tissue. 2) They are relatively cheap so are widely available. They are also easily transported and used anywhere in the world.

Light Microscope Disadvantages
1) Preservation and staining of the tissue can result in artefacts being observed, making it hard to distinguish what is real. 2) They have limited powers of magnification and resolution.

1) They have huge powers of magnification and resolution.

Electron Microscope Disadvantages
1) Specimens are examined in a vacuum so they cannot be alive. 2) They undergo severe treatment likely to result in artefacts. 3) They are extremely expensive so not available to everybody.
