What is the menstrual cycle?
The recurring monthly process in which the lining of the womb is prepared for pregnancy

-Causes the egg to mature in the ovaries, -Stimulates the production of Oestrogen,

-Prohibits the production of FSH, -Thickens the lining of the womb, -Stimuates the production of LH

-Prohibits the production of Oestrogen, -Releases the matured egg from the ovary,

What does contraceptives contain and why?
Oestrogen-Prohbits production of FSH so egg can't mature and progesterone as it creates a plug over the ovaries,

What are the advantages of contraceptives?
-Allows couples to choose the time they start a family and the time to stop having children,

What are the disadvantages of contraceptives?
-High levels of oestrogen and progesterone cause side effects, -Ethical-kills babies

What do fertility drugs contain and why and who are they for?
Contain FSH and LH as it allows the egg to mature and be released, -It is for women who dont produce enough FSh to allow their eggs to mature,

What are the advantages of fertility drugs?
-Women who couldnt have children can have children, -Doesnt involve surgery so less side effects,

What are the disadvantages of fertility drugs?
-The treatment can lead to multiple mature eggs so can lead to twins or triples, -This increases the risk in childbirth and can lead to premature babies,

How does IVF work?
Multiple eggs from a women are taken from the womb and fertilised by the mens sperm in a petri dish. The best fertilised egg is implanated back into her uterus

What happens to the eggs that arent chosen?
They are either discarded or frozen if the person wants another baby,

What are the disadvantages or worries of IVF?
-Involves surgery, -Ethical reasons like designer babies- only the best egg is chosen so only the 'desirable' egg and so others killed of life,
