Sensory register

Short-term memory

this is the potentially permanent memory store. it has a unlimited capacity, it is coded semantically and has the duration of a lifetime
Long-term memory

this is a long-term memory store for personal events such as memories of childhood and people, places and objects
episodic memory

a long-term memory store for our knowledge of the world. it includes facts, words and meanings
semantic memory

a long-term memory store for our knowledge of how to do things. this includes memories of learnt skills like walking and riding a bike
