a sort of wooden toilet. Public humiliation = women accused of scolding had to sit on it

What were medieval prisons like?
Wealthy = luxury room in castle. Poor = rotten bread, dirty water, sometimes chained outside. Had to pay gaoler for bedding, food and drink so depended on what the prisoner could afford

What was the benefit of the clergy?
Could escape severe punishment. Only tried by Church, which did not execute. Punishment was reading verses from bible and being God for mercy.

What was a king's approver?
a criminal who provided court with evidence against other criminals. If the others were found guilty the approver would be let off their sentence.
