diegetic sound
Sound that is part of the mise-en-scene and can be heard by characters in the scene.

A way of categorising audiences based on personality, values, opinions, attitudes and lifestyles.

A count of how many copies of a particular publication are distributed, including subscriptions.

Vertical Integration
A process whereby one company acquires another involved at a different level of the industry. eg a magazine publisher that owns a company.

A large organisation that has interests spanning across a number of different businesses or industries. for example, Walt Disney.

When one text is used or referenced within another.

Classification
A rating is given to a film, informing the audience of its suitability acoording to citeria that include levels of violence, sexual content and use of inappropriate language.

Describes a larger newspaper that publishes more serious news for example the daily telegraph.

Visual elements of a media product such as props, costumes and settings that are used.

Restricted narrative
The audience only sees the narrative from the character point of view so only knows as much as they do.
