Hypothesis testing
The scientific method progresses by hypothesis testing. Efforts must be made to disprove the hypothesis in order to prove it.

In order for findings to be well-regarded, it must be possible to replicate the experiment and find similar results.

It is important that the researcher's opinions do not affect the methods and conclusions of the study. Without objectivity, resullts may not be replicable.

Information gained through direct observation or experiment rather than resaoned argument or unfounded beliefs.
