Macbeth character profile
Macbeth was a tragic hero. We know this because at the begining of the play, he is a warrior 'noble' and by the end of the end of the play, he was a 'tyrant'. He goes back to being a hero when he lets Macd kill him.

He gets manipulated to kill Duncan by the witches and Lady Macbeth. Lady Macbeth insults him and calls him a woman because he won't do the deed. In the end, he gives in and does kill Duncan, sending him on a downward spiral of corruptness.

Lady Macbeth
Lady Macbeth is Macbeth's wife. She isn't a traditional Jacobean woman. We know this because she has all the power in the relationship, telling Macbeth what to do. She manipulates Macbeth into killing Duncan and becoming king.

Throughout the play, her relationship with Macbeth changes. She no longer has power over him because he has more power than her. She gets driven so mad that she kill's herself.

This is done off stage, which is significant because she now has no purpose on the stage and is like a traditional Jacobean woman, unimportant. She goes mad because she can't wash the spots of blood off her hands.

Macduff
Macduff is the dramatic foil of Macbeth, meaning he is the complete opposite of him. We know this because at the end of the olay when he kills Macbeth, he is offered kingship. He declined this offer so the divine ruler is on the throne.

Banquo
Banquo was Macbeth's best friend until Duncan was murdered. He suspected Macbeth from start, because of what the witches said to him. He and fleance are greeted by macbeth who greets them by asking where they will be that evening.

On that same day, assassin's are sent to kill Banquo and Fleance. They kill Banquo, but Fleance escapes.

Malcom
Malcolm is Duncan's son and the rightful heir to the throne. After Duncan's murder, he runs away because he was scared he would have been accused. He goes and lives in England. When Macduff arrives, they make an army to vanquish Macbeth.

After the battle and they vanquish Macbeth. He is crowned king and order is restored.
