The HERO is usually a NOBLE person with one main flaw and Macbeth's was ambition which led to his downfall. AMBITION WAS HIS FATEL FLAW.

Macbeth is reluctant to kill king Duncan which shows he has morals but he is also ambitious. BY killing king Duncan ti shows how strong his ambition is.

It is not just ambition that motivates Macbeth it is also the way Lady Macbeth emasculates him to do things he doesn't want to.

Malcolm and Macduff are ambitious for their country, they want to take Macbeth's power from him not for their selves but for the good of Scotland

Ambition often "overleaps its self"
It can lead a person to aim too high so they fail and lose everything. This foreshadows Macbeth's own tragic downfall, by the end of the play Macbeth has lost everything and dies an "horrid tyrant"
