1 of 5
What were the results of this study?
If the hatchling saw Lorenz first they assumed he was their mother and attached to him as a survival mechanism
2 of 5
What was the conclusion of this study?
Human babies attach to their mother in the same way as a means of survival.
3 of 5
What were the strengths of this study? (2)
The geese were in their natural environment (ecological validity). Later experiments replicated the findings, even if the first object was man made (like a yellow rubber glove).
4 of 5
What were the weaknesses of this study? (2)
Human babies are not geese, it's hard to generalise results from animals or birds. Not all animals show imprinting behaviours so it may be specific to only some (not necessarily including humans).
