They were some of Richard III most loyal supporters and so it was entirely personal

They had been in sanctuary at Colchester (by law protection up to 40 days but can be longer)

What was the plan?
Lovell headed North to waylay the king, the Staffords travelled to Worcester to sir up rebellion in the West. No clear plan what would come after but potentially would replace Henry with John de la Pole, Earl of Lincoln

How did Henry react?
Henry heard of it while in Lincoln and sent an armed force to offer the rebels the choice of pardon and reconciliation or, if they fought and lost, excommunication and death

How did the rebels react? What happened to Lovell and the Stafford brothers?
They dispersed; Lovell evaded capture once more and fled to Flanders; Staffords sort sanctuary but were captured Humphrey was executed but Thomas was pardoned and remained loyal thereafter
