I would say so to a small extent, but not everybody, as there are laws that make sure people are not judged by culture, race or ethncity eg; work/employment laws

This means that everyone is treated the same technically; however this is not always the case.

Is this producing an increasingly divided society?
I think society in some areas is getting slightly more divided as race issues and religion issues tend to be becoming more frequent on the news and tension from recent terror attacks like in Paris also spread fear of certain groups worldwide

and this creates divisions and misconceptions amongst society. Difference is often highlighted in my opinion rather than similarities between cultures which is why I believe tension is getting worse.

In general many people across the UK are able to live in cohesion and harmony with other cultures and races, however this is not always the case eg; lee rigby killed because he was white and Jo Cox killed because she supported equal rights

No, it has negative aspects but it's not negative.

If you believe multiculturalism is by definition 'living in harmony with a range of races' it is positive as we can gain a lot from immigration and learning about other cultures and become more open to and tolerant to beliefs.

On the otherhand if you believe multiculturalism means 'a mix of rcaes/ cultures living in one area', this may be negative as cultural dilution can occur not only for minority groups, but majority as well, making people upset or even fustrated

..from the loss of culture. Tension and hate can be created between opposing sides in communities as they clash, this could lead to hate crime or just a general lack of community cohesion.

Residential segregation
Ethnic minorities live in one neighbourhood, this may be the case as communities with a majority race tend to offer support and guidance as well as acting as a safety net of beliefs, language and culture, like thier own therefore they feel accepted

Where are the majority of non-whites?
In London, the main non-white groups South of the Thames are black, North of the river the majority are South Asain and Bangladeshi in the east.

What is the biggest non-white majority in the west of London?
Indian and Pakistani groups are the majority non-white in the West.
