the church and established religion as he saw it as cold,restricting and dull.Formal educaton as it was boring for the imagination. Class divide as he believed the rich didnt care for the poor and were unaware of them being exploited

repetiton of the adjective 'chartered' - shows ownership instantly and the poem has only just started

suffering is so constant that it makes a 'mark' on someone.London is being ripped apart by poverty

Anaphora - juxtaposition of man and infants - shows how everyone is suffering and its never ending

juxtaposition - marriage is happy and a sign of the beginning however hearse is the end and a union of life and death. SHows how no good comesto the poor
