Liver in metabolism (nitrogen and protein metabolism)

?
what pathway can Nitrogen be removed from the body?
The only way NH3 can be removed is through the enzyme that only acts of glutamate _glutamate dehydrogenase. so aa have to be transaminated to glutamate.
1 of 7
What happens to glutamate in deamination?
Glutamate add H2O goes to a-ketoglutarate + NH4.
2 of 7
What are the three pairs that release NH4 from aa?
alanine-pyruvate and NH4. glutamate-oxaloacetate and NH4. Aspartate ->oxaloacetate and NH4.
3 of 7
What are the essential aa that we can't make the carbon skeleton for?
Very Many (Hairy) Little Pigs Live In The Toilet (Alone). valine, methionine, histidine, leucine phenylalanine lysine, isoleucine threonine, thrytophan arganine. The ones in brackets are only essential when growing.
4 of 7
So what ones aren't essential?
Cystine, Aspartate, glutamate, glycine, alanine, tyrosine, serine, cystine, proline,
5 of 7
What ones transport aa?
alanine, glutamine, glutamate + aspartate.
6 of 7
The urea cycle explain.
NH4+CO2->carbomoyl phosphate. Aspartate doesn't have to be transaminated as it can enter the urea cycle.
