What is the liver made up of?

Central vein, Sinusoids, portal triad, kupffer cells, hepatocytes, bile canniculi

What 3 vessels make up the portal triad?
Portal vein, Hepatic Artery, Bile duct

What is a hepatocyte?
they are functional cells of the liver

What are bile canniculi?
Small ducts between hepatocytes that collect bile.

What are hepatic sinusoids?
Blood capillaries between hepatocytes. They receive oxygenated and nutrient rich blood.

What are kupffer cells?
They filter the blood of harmful products. they are hepatic macrophages.

Functions of the liver?
Detoxification of toxic substances, Stores and synthesises glycogen, and bile, kupffer cells provide an immunological defense.
