Unsaturated have double bonds and saturated do not.

Ester bonds.

What three functions does a lipid have?
Phospholipid to form membranes, cholesterol to stabilize membrane and triglycerides to form adipose layer under skin for insulation and protection of organs.

What is the test for lipids?
The emulsion test.

How is the test for lipids carried out?
The sample is dissolved in ethanol, shaken, water added, shaken again, if the liquid is cloudy a lipid is present.
