?
What chromosomes do females have?
**
1 of 8
What chromosomes do males have?
XY
2 of 8
When is a characteristic sex linked?
When the allele that codes for the characteristic is located on a sex chromosome (effects expected ratio)
3 of 8
What is an autosome?
a chromosome that isn't sex linked
4 of 8
What are autosomal genes?
genes located on the autosome
5 of 8
When are autosomal genes linked?
When they are on the same autosome so will stay together in independent assortment of chromosomes (this wont happen if crossing over separates them first)
6 of 8
The closer together two genes are on an autosome the more linked they are, why is this?
because they are less likely to be split up by crossing over
7 of 8
What is epistasis?
When the allele of one gene masks the expression of other genes (effects expected ratio)
