free school meals for needy many councils ignored this as it was not compulsory 1914= 14 million free school meals served.

unions could not be sued for damages incurred by the company during a strike. reversal of taff vale case- TU's could now strike freely.

National Insurance- National Insurance Act 1911- Health
Workers earning £160 wage a year paid 4p/week, employer = 3p, state= 2p. Workers could take sick leave for 13 weeks on 10/s week and then 5 for nxt 13. free TB care and panel of approved doctors.

National Insurance- Unemployment
Workers- 2.5p/week, employer = 2.5p/week, state = 3p/week. after 1 week workers recieved 7s/week for 15 weeks a year. 1913- 2,3 mil insured almost 15 mil on sickness benefit.

Unemployed- Labour exchanges act 1909
created labour exchnages (employers/employees could post jobs/apply for them) to help unemployed find work

National Insurance Act 1911
unemployed workers in vunerable jobs like labourers were given 7s a week for 15 weeks of the year.

Prevented building of 'back to back' houses.

5s/week to singles, 7s to married couple. over 70 earning under £21 to get it have to live in UK for over 20 Years

aimed to provide food to school children as 50,000 pupils in London were attending school in want of food. bare minimum of curriculam established.
