Boer war
- reflected the malnutrition in cities
- liberals used this for them and said cons neglected poverty in cities
- costed more than they thought

- use of harsh methods such as concentration camps

- schools payed by local rates
- annoyed non conformists didn't want to pay for certain schools such as church of England and catholic schools
- thought church of England already had many advantages

- got rid of public houses and compensated to brewers and publicans

- not may voted cons anyway but they moved away from liberals due to home rule and this made them go back

Chinese labour issue
- taken to south Africa to work at low wages and held i cramped camps ( ethically wrong for non conformists
- TU also annoyed didn't want them to come back as there weren't jobs for them therefore pushing wages down at home
