Complex cells, including animal and plant cells
2 of 12
Prokaryotic Cells
Smaller and simpler, e.g. bacteria
3 of 12
Organelles
Structures within cells, which can only be seen under a powerful microscope
4 of 12
Nucleus
Contains genetic material that controls cell activity. Surrounded by own membrane
5 of 12
Cell Membrane
Forms outer surface of cell and controls substances going in and out
6 of 12
Cytoplasm
Gel-like substance where most chemical reactions take place. Contains enzymes which control the reactions
7 of 12
Mitochondria
Where most aerobic respiration reactions take place
8 of 12
Ribosomes
Where proteins are made in the cell
9 of 12
[Chloroplasts]
[Where photosynthesis occurs.Contain green substance called chlorophyll used in photosynthesis]
10 of 12
[Cell Wall]
[Rigid structure made of cellulose surrounding cell membrane. Supports and strengthens cell]
