Why did Lenin make his Testament in his final year of life?
Alarmed by the dangers of future party leadership. Everyone seemed to have ambitions and rivalries. Wanted to influence this from 'beyond the grave'.

Party's leadership circle who wanted to succeed him. Included the likes of Bukharin, Stalin, Zinoviev, Kamenev and Trotsky.

For insulting his wife, Krupskaya, over the phone after she refused to let Stalin see Lenin upon discovering he was talking to Trotsky.

Why was Lenin harsh on Stalin?
As Commissar of Nationalities during the Civil War, Stalin took Georgia by brute force but lied to Lenin about it being a popular uprising.

Was it just Stalin who was attacked in Lenin's testament?
No. Everyone was criticised and no one was endorsed. Perhaps Lenin wanted collective leadership? (though he didn't make this clear)

Why wasn't Lenin's Testament published?
Triumvirate (Stalin, Zinoviev and Kamenev) had been heavily criticsed in it, so persuaded colleagues not to publish it.
