When people are deprived in relation to others, which leads to resentment and inequality due a consumer and materialistic society.

That ethnic minority groups feel resentment because they feel relatively deprived as the policing in their community is unfair and biased.

That often ethnic minorities form subculutres in inner city areas, they still strive to achieve mainstream goals but lack the legitimate opportunities, so turn to crime

That we now live in a society which is insecure, instable and excluded

There was a loss of jobs, therefore unemployement- welfare cutbacks and people resorted to crime to survive.

What are left realists four solutions to crime?
More ethnic minority police officers, better relationships between police and communities, tackle inequalities-structural causes of crime, community centres

What are the two strengths?
Recognises the social causes of crime and note that most victims are working class

What are the weaknesses?
Most victims are working class and they only rely in victim surveys.
