What were the secondary effects of the earthquake?
Haitian tourist industry declined; dead bodies created a health hazard; 2 million haitians left without food and water; by November there were outbreaks of cholera

What were the immediate responses?
$330 million given by European Union, 13000 tonnes of aid sent by red cross charity, healthcare supplies sent out to limit disease; 800,000 placed in aid camps.

only 2% of the rubble cleared; temporary schools created; support for people without jobs;
