A relatively permanent change in behaviour due to experience.

Operant Conditioning
Learning due to consequences of behaviour, through positive reinforcement or negative reinforcement.

Law of effect
Behaviours that are followed by rewards are repeated; punished behaviours aren't repeated.

Positive reinforcement
Reward or pleasant consequence that increases the likelihood of a behaviour or action being repeated

Negative reinforcement
An unpleasant experience is removed after a behaviour or action has been made. Increases chance of behaviour being repeated.

A stimulus that weakens behaviour because it is unpleasant- try to avoid.

A persistent and irrational fear of an object, activity or situation.

Addiction treatment. Addict has extremely negative reaction to the substance.

Primary reinforcer
A reward such as food or water that person or animal needs to survive.

A reward such as money or token that animal or person can exchange for primary reinforcer.
