What is affixing?

creation of completely new words that are not derived from any other words. very few words enter langauge this way.

When words are taken from other languages.

Words which have gone out of use. E.G Hark! (stop)

What is Broadening and Narrowing?
Broadening is when the meaning of the word broadens- retains old meaning but also takes on new meanings. Narrowing is when a word becomes more specific in it's meaning.

What is Amelioration and Pejoration?
Amelioration is when a word takes on more positve meaning. Pejoration is where a word takes on a more negative meaning.
