Water and Carbon Dioxide.

What are the waste products produced when the liver breaks down excess amino acids?
Urea

Why are kidneys important?
They regulate the amount of water and concentration of salts and other useful substances in the blood

What is the function of the Renal Artery?
It takes blood to the kidneys where the blood is filtered.

What is a ureta?
A tube that takes urine to the bladder.

What is the function of the bladder?
A bladder stores Urine before it's passed.

What is the names of the tiny tubules in kidneys?
Nephrons.

Give two functions of Nephrons.
Filtration of soluble waste from the blood, and reabsorb useful substances into blood.

Inside kidneys, what liquid is inside the collecting duct?
Urine

Where does filtration take place in the kidney?
The Bowmans capsule

What can short-term Kidney failure be caused by?
Infection, or blockage of a ureta.

What can long-term kidney failure be caused by?
Unregulated diabetes, High blood pressure or tumours in the abdomen

What is the treatment for kidney failure?
Dialysis.

What are the advantages of kidney transplants?
Freedom from a restricted diet, no dyalisis.

What are the disadvantages of kidney transplants?
Limited kidney donors, risk of rejection of transpants, life-time drugs to support transplant.
