1. The Head of State was to be elected every 7 years by the German people. 2. All Germans over 20 were given the vote. 3. Basic rights such as freedom of speech and religion were protected.

Blame, Reparations of £6,600 million to be paid to France and Belgium, the Army was limited to 150,000 soldiers and 6 battleships and territory was taken from Germany.

What was the Spartacist Revolt?
The left-wing groups wanted a revolution similar to the one in Russia in 1917 so they tried to seize power but were crushed by 4,000 Freikorps and the regular army.

What was the Kapp Putsch?
The right-wing groups, which included rich landowners, disliked the Weimar Republic because it was too different to the 'old Germany'. A putsch involving 5,000 Freikorps took place in Berlin however the workers striked, showing they supported the WR

What was the Munich Putsch?
The right-winged attempt to overthrow the government by Adolf Hitler, that failed.

What did Article 48 do?
Allowed the Head of State to pass laws without permission of the Reichstag.

Proportional voting which allowed a lot of minor political parties to gain seats in the Reichstag.
