Keeping healthy and defence again disease.

?
Pathogen: a disease- causing microorganism.
Microorganisms that cause infectious diseases are called pathogens. These are, bacteria and viruses.
1 of 5
White blood cells.
They ingest pathogens. They produce antitoxins to neutralise toxins from pathogens. They produce antibodies to detroy particular pathogens.
2 of 5
Bactera: A single-celled microorganism that has no nucleus.
They are very small. They produce rapdily. They may produce toxins that make you feel ill. They may cause illness like TB, tetanus and cholera.
3 of 5
Viruses.
They are smaller than bacteria. They reproduce rapidly once inside living cells, damaging the cells. They may produce toxins that make you feel ill. They cause illnesses like colds, flu, measles and polio.
4 of 5
Vaccine: a liquid preparation containing inactive or dead pathogens, used to make the body produce antibodies to provide protection against disease.
You can acquire immunity to a particular disease by being vaccinated (immunised). 1) Small amounts of inactive or dead pathogen are injected into your body. 2) Your white blood cells produce antibodies to destroy the pathogen.
