Deal with small claims cases in the County Court and also try criminal cases in the Magistrates Court. They may hear family cases but it will be with two magistrates.

Part time judges who sit mainly in the Crown Court. They can sit in the County Court to hear civil cases.

Sit in Crown and County Court and do majority of work. In civil cases they sit alone and in criminal cases they sit with a jury.

Work in the High Court and will be appointed to one of three divisions.

Hear appeals in the Court of Appeal. They sit as a panel of three.
Lord Justices of Appeal

Sit in the Supreme Court and hear appeals on important points of law. Any decision here becomes precedent for all other courts.
