Gender bias
The differential treatment or representation of men and women based on stereotypes rather than real differences

Centered or focused on men, often to the neglect or exclusion of women

Example of alpha bias
Freuds research: his theories reflected the culture in which he lived where men were more powerful and more educated, and regarded as superior to women. An example of his study is into the oedipus and electra complex where women had 'penis envy'

Example of beta bias
Research into fight or flight: Research conducted into this is usually on male animals because in females the variations in hormone level would make the research more difficult

Solution to bias:
Recognise differences but not the superiority of one gender over the other.
