Shells
Is a group of atomic orbitals with the same principal Quantum number which is represented by (n).
1 of 7
Atomic Orbital
Region within an atom that can hold up to two electrons with opposite spins.
2 of 7
Sub shell
Group of the same type of Atomic orbital. E.g (s,p,d,f)
3 of 7
First Ionization Energy
The energy needed to remove one electron from each atom in one mole of gaseous atoms to form 1 mole of + Ions.
4 of 7
Electron Shelding
This is the repulsion between electrons in different inner shells. Shielding reduces the force of attraction between the +ve Nucleus and the Outer shell electrons.
5 of 7
Atomic Radius
This is the distance between outer shell electrons and the radius of the atom .
6 of 7
Principle Quantum Number
"n" is the number representing the relative overall energy for each orbital. Orbitals with the same "n" value are called electron shells or energy levels
