1 of 6
What apparatus is required for the practical?
2 bottle tops.....Bunsen burner......paper clip.......tongs.....clay pipe triangle.....access to a balance (2dp).......magnesium ribbon.......tripod.......heatproof mat.......pen.....paper
2 of 6
What method is required to complete the experiment?
1. Find the total mass of 2 bottle-tops and paper clip. Record this mass as M1. 2. Cut a 10 cm length of magnesium ribbon in to three strips and place in one of the bottle-tops. 3. Find the mass of the 2 bottle-tops + clip+ magnesium ribbon.
3 of 6
What is the word equation for the experiment?
Magnesium + oxygen = magnesium oxide
4 of 6
Is it a chemical or physical change?
A chemical change.
5 of 6
Was it a mass gain or loss, and why?
