too slow in emergency. some ppl have difficulty swallowing. some drugs resist compression into tablets

dissolution + absorption - a drug cannot be absorbed unless it is dissolved in solution

enteric coated tablets
coated in polymer which only breaks down in pH>5 ie in the intestine

an exipient which swells in water to help break the tablet up - increase dissolution rate

prevent powder sticking to machinery

why is granulation required?
powders do no flow well leading to an non-uniform . granules are larger particles and will flow better

granulation process
mix dry masses of drug+ exipients. Add aq binder to produce a wet mass. Sieve to produce granules. Dry granules. add lube
