Objectives of Testing
make software more compatible, eradicate faults, testing portability, reviewing software
1 of 17
Integration Testing
Units of project are combined and tested as a group, series of tests called a test plan
2 of 17
White Box Testing
Involves testing with people who know the systems programming and create tests to expose errors
3 of 17
Black Box Testing
Involves people who don't know the systems programming and aren't familiar with it, look at outputs and if it has met requirements
4 of 17
Automated and Manual Testing
Tests on the system which are repetitive can be done by an automated system
5 of 17
Alpha Testing
First stage of testing before public use, hardware and software manufacture create tests
6 of 17
Beta Testing
Software testers who test system before public use, operated under realistic conditions
7 of 17
Network Testing
Measurement and recording of network state over a period of time, comparison and control
8 of 17
Unit Testing
Testing each section of a plan to ensure it does what it is suppose to do
9 of 17
System Testing
Using a test plan to test all paths especially data flow input output
10 of 17
User Testing
Testing carried out by live user in environment
11 of 17
Functional Testing
To ensure operations work correctly in the system
12 of 17
Operational Testing
Tests carried out in environment using all devices
13 of 17
Regression Testing
Going back after initial testing carrying out further aspects which may need to be further tested time consuming
14 of 17
Robustness/Performance Testing
General Testing system is observed, ensure system does not fail and maintains stability when crashes
15 of 17
Volume Testing
Tests using monitoring how it copes with large number of terminals
16 of 17
Security Testing
Identifies and removes software errors which may lead to security threats
