Windows, menus, icons, pointers. It is the most commonly used type of interface.

Menu driven interfaces (MDI)
Useful in situations where the user is restricted to a limited choice of actions. Used for automated phone calls when a user has to press a number to follow a procedure

Command line interfaces (CLI)
User types in text based commands for the computer to execute, the user has to know the commands to begin with. They are only normally used by experts, but can be quicker than GUIs and take up less memory

Benefits- User friendly, clear. Limitations- Demanding on storage, frustrating for experts
