What is an input Device
Any device that allows you to transfer data from outside world to a computer

Any device that can take digital data and convert it into a format that we can process

INPUT: keyboards, mice, microphones, cameras, remotes, scanners || OUTPUT: Monitors, headphones, printers, plotters || BOTH: Tablets,phones, laptops

Define Storage Device
Any hardware that can be used for Temp / Permanent storage of data - can be external

What are Primary Storage devices
Memory that can be Directly Accessed by the CPU

What are Secondary Storage devices
Memory that cannot be directly accessed by the CPU, enables permanent storage. Eg USB, CD. FAR SLOWER than RAM/ROM.

What is RAM
RAM is a fast and VOLATILE memory that exchanges data with CPU at a much faster rate than other storage eg DVD.

Give 3 features of RAM
[1] RAM tends to hold: OS, Programs, Data relevant to the programs all at one time. [2] VOLATILE, [3] It can be Read FROM and Written TO.

What is ROM
(Read Only Memory) - Memory that cannot be changed by program or user.

[1] Stores program required to initially boot up PC, [2] NON-Volatile, [3] Read-Only

What is Virtual Storage
Referred to as 'Cloud' Storage - means storing data virtually on the internet

Give advantages/disadvantages of Virtual Storage
Data can be easily shared among devices, storage considered limitless when bought. BUT Can be Expensive, slow if interet is slow, data must STILL be hosted on servers using normal drives.
