?
How does TB evade Immune Response?
When TB infects the lungs, they are engulfed by phagocytes. They produce substances which prevent lysosome fusing. Multiply undetected within phagocyte. Disrupts antigen presentation so go without being detected or killed.
1 of 6
What is Passive Natural Immunity?
Antibodies produced that are not the body's own are received through natural processes. Eg: baby receives antibodies from mother.
2 of 6
What is Active Natural Immunity?
Antibodies are produced by the body through natural processes. Eg: specific immune response due to pathogen entering body.
3 of 6
What is Active Artificial Immunity?
Antibodies are produced by the body due to purposely being exposed to bacteria via vaccination. Provokes specific immune response.
4 of 6
What is Passive Artificial Immunity?
Receiving antibodies that have not been produced by the body via a vaccination of antibodies needed for a specific infection that will only live temporarily.
5 of 6
What can vaccines contain?
Attenuated virus (weakened), dead bacteria, antigen-bearing fragments of pathogens.
