XYY chromosome is only found in males because it determines sex

Males have more testosterone and they tend to be more aggressive, could increase the chances of being involved in crime

Brain injury (GD)
Although the effects of certain brain injuries are the same, males tend to take part in more risk taking behaviour and so male and female brain injuries tend to be different and have a different effect

Frontal lobe (GD)
Males brains develop slower than females brains, the frontal lobe sometimes isnt fully developed till 20's for males, this could explain antisocial peak in adolescence

What did Raine et al find whilst studying gender differences in crime?
A low heart rate was found to be a predictor for violence and aggression, males tended to have a slower heart beat to women, there is also a genetic basis for slow heart rate (could explain why criminal behaviour can run in the family)

What are other individual differences that can affect criminal behaviour?
XYY- not all who have it show aggression, Personality- affected by development, could vary behaviour, Social identity theory- everyones upbringing and role models are unique to them, role models don't have to be parents or siblings involved in crime
